Can EMDR support relationship issues?

Yes. EMDR is highly effective for healing attachment wounds, past relationship pain, and the beliefs that keep you stuck in old patterns.

What’s the difference between Relationship Counselling and EMDR Counselling?

EMDR is a specialized therapy that can address relationship challenges and a range of other issues, such as low self-esteem, stress, anxiety, and grief. It’s often integrated with relationship counseling to support both healing and personal growth.






Can EMDR be done virtually?

Absolutely! EMDR works just as effectively in online sessions. We use techniques like audio, tapping, or eye movements through the screen, allowing you to experience the same benefits from the comfort of your home.

Can I use EMDR alongside individual counselling?

We offer 50 and 75 minute EMDR sessions. Longer sessions are typically recommended for EMDR.

How long are EMDR sessions?

Yes, we typically integrate EMDR with individual sessions to complement the work we're doing together. This combination can speed up progress, making lasting changes at a deeper level.







How is EMDR used in Relationship Counselling?

In relationship counselling, EMDR helps romantic partners process past issues impacting their relationship, such as anxiety, grief, and intimacy barriers. It can reduce emotional triggers and help partners respond with greater thoughtfulness and empathy.






Do you accept health insurance?

As Registered Clinical Counsellors and Certified Canadian Counsellors, our services are covered by a number of extended health benefit plans. Please consult with your service provider to determine the type of coverage you have. Clients are responsible for paying for sessions and then submitting their claim to their insurance provider. On request, a receipt will be provided for you to submit for reimbursement.

How many sessions will I need?

It’s hard to predict exactly how many EMDR sessions you'll need, as everyone heals at their own pace. While EMDR can be quicker than traditional therapy, some may need just a few sessions, while others may require up to 6 months for lasting change.







Are there any risks to counselling?

While counselling can be an excellent source of support it’s normal to experience stronger than usual emotions when exploring difficult topics and trying out new behaviours. If you feel uncomfortable with the interventions we suggest or with the pace, know that we can adjust things as needed.

Not necessarily! While EMDR is often used for trauma, it's also effective for any stuck patterns or emotions that are getting in the way of your progress—whether they’re related to past events or current struggles.


Do I need to have experienced trauma or recall traumatic memories for EMDR to be effective?
